On the Non Gaussian Asymptotics of the Likelihood Ratio Test Statistic for Homogeneity of Covariance

چکیده
The likelihood ratio test for m-sample homogeneity of covariance is notoriously sensitive to the violations of Gaussian assumptions. Its asymptotic behavior under non-Gaussian densities has been the subject of an abundant literature. In a recent paper, Yanagihara et al. (2005) show that the asymptotic distribution of the likelihood ratio test statistic, under arbitrary elliptical densities with finite fourth-order moments, is that of a linear combination of two mutually independent chi-square variables. Their proof is based on characteristic function methods, and only allows for convergence in distribution conclusions. Moreover, they require homokurticity among the m populations. Exploiting the findings of Hallin and Paindaveine (2008a), we reinforce that convergence-in-distribution result into a convergencein-probability one—that is, we explicitly decompose the likelihood ratio test statistic into a linear combination of two variables which are asymptotically independent chi-square—and moreover extend it to the heterokurtic case.

Modified signed log-likelihood test for the coefficient of variation of an inverse Gaussian population
In this paper, we consider the problem of two sided hypothesis testing for the parameter of coefficient of variation of an inverse Gaussian population. An approach used here is the modified signed log-likelihood ratio (MSLR) method which is the modification of traditional signed log-likelihood ratio test. Previous works show that this proposed method has third-order accuracy whereas the traditi...
متن کاملTesting Homogeneity of a Parameter Matrix Some of the Rows of Which Are under Synchronized Order Restrictions
This research considers a multiple multivariate linear regression model with a parameter matrix some of the rows of which are constrained by synchronized order restrictions. The test on the homogeneity of the parameter matrix is considered. Under the assumption that the common variance covariance matrix is unknown, an ad-hoc test statistic is proposed by replacing the unknown covariance matrix ...
متن کاملComparison of Local and Non-Local Methods in Covariance Matrix Estimation by Using Multi-baseline SAR Interferometry and Height Extraction for Principal Components with Maximum Likelihood Approach
By today, the technology of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) interferometry (InSAR) has been largely exploited in digital elevation model (DEM) generation and deformation mapping. Conventional InSAR technique exploits two SAR images acquired from slightly different angles, in which the information of elevation and deformation can be captured through processing of the phase difference of the image...
متن کاملStatistical analysis of non-linear diffusion process
We study the problem of statistical inference of continuous-time diffusion processes, and develop methods for modeling threshold diffusion processes in particular. We derive the limiting properties of the quasi-likelihood estimator. We also propose a quasi-likelihood ratio test statistic for testing threshold diffusion process against linear alternative. We begin in Chapter 1 with an introducti...
متن کاملEvaluation of Tests for Separability and Symmetry of Spatio-temporal Covariance Function
In recent years, some investigations have been carried out to examine the assumptions like stationarity, symmetry and separability of spatio-temporal covariance function which would considerably simplify fitting a valid covariance model to the data by parametric and nonparametric methods. In this article, assuming a Gaussian random field, we consider the likelihood ratio separability test, a va...
